I started making wire-wrap jewelry when I visited the west coast for the first time. I was impressed with all the different stones I could find. My hometown had some stones of note, but most rocks of interest had been ground to sand long ago. I liked how much importance some people put in specific stones. I wanted to be able to take something that held meaning for someone and make it so it could be worn.

I also liked the idea of making jewelry without having to have electricity; I could throw all my tools in a bag and make things anywhere. I didn’t want to have to worry about always having to pay someone rent or electricity to be able to do the thing I loved.

I may graduate to heat eventually, but I like pushing the boundaries of what can be achieved with wire wrapping. I feel I have a long way to go before I’m done.
